Spam Members on the forums....

Hi everyone,

I have been going back through our members list and checking all of the members of this forum against a known spammer database. Thus far, I have removed almost 35 members from the roster. Some of the deleted spammers have 7 or 8 posts to their username despite their account not even being active yet. Rest assured, if you name shows up as a confirmed spammer and you have posts fire related, I'm not going to just delete you. I am checking the accounts first to make sure they are not false positives.

What I think may be happening is once we block someone for spam, they switch to one of the other "uncaught" screen names and away they go again. I'm trying to stop this cycle by catching all of the names that may be used for this kind of activity.

Also, I am going to begin looking at a new upgrade to these forums. We use Simple Machine forums 1.1.11 and Simple Machine Forums 2.0 is out. Among other things, it features enhanced spam and false member signups.
