Fairborn & Beavercreek Shared Station
« on: March 11, 2010, 02:50:33 PM »
Fairborn is a medium sized city in Greene Co, Ohio.  It is home to both Wright Patterson AFB and Wright State University.  For as long as I can remember they have had 3 fire stations that were staffed with career FF/PM's.

Beavercreek is another medium sized community located in Greene Co, OH and just South of Fairborn.  For as long as I can remember it has operated with four stations.  As with a lot of local communities in our area it started as a volunteer department in the township.  Now the township is an incorporated city and the department operates with a mixed crew of Full & Part Time FF/PM's.

In the not too distant past, it was decided to open a 4th Fairborn station.  The idea was to place a Quint, staffed by Fairborn and a Medic, staffed by Beavercreek at this new station.  It was numbered as Fairborn Sta. 2.

I just found out today that this experiment has ended.  Beavercreek has pulled out of the deal and now Fairborn is on their own.  So here is the way I think it stands now.

Fairborn Sta. 1  E-1 and Medic 1
Fairborn Sta. 2  E-2 and Medic 2          The engine most likely came from Sta. 3
Fairborn Sta. 3  Quint 3 and Medic 3     The quint moved from Sta. 2
Fairborn Sta. 4  Quint 4 and Medic 4

What I don't know is which units are staffed full time and which ones are either / or.

Beavercreek Sta. 61  E-61  L-61  Medic 61  Rescue 61 Battalion Chief   Ladder moved from Sta. 63
Beavercreek Sta. 62  E-62  L-62  Medic 62                                       Ladder moved from Sta. 64
Beavercreek Sta. 63  E-63  Medic 63  Tanker 63                                Tanker moved from Sta. 61
Beavercreek Sta. 64  E-64  Medic 64

If any one out there knows more about this or if I made any errors, please let us know.  BTW, Dayton & Huber Heights tried a similar arrangement a while back and it did not work out either.
