Gary, In
« on: February 10, 2010, 03:01:54 AM »
I know I've posted most of Gary already under several threads but thought I'd finally do a separate one for the department. Gary is about 30 miles from Chicago & it's home to U.S. Steel. The city and FD were incorporated in 1906. They run out of 12 stations & depending on lay-offs have 8 engines & 3 truck companies in service. Gary was the homicide capital per capita until 2008 when it was bumped by New Orleans. In 2009 it didn't qualify when the population went under 100,000 and talks of lay-offs and station closings are on the horizon.

Engine 1, 2000 Ferrara
Truck 1, 2007 ALF/LTI quint 2000/300/100'

Station 4 was home to Engine & Truck 4 but most of the time the Engine is O.O.S. and the Tuck is using old Truck 1's 1989 Seagrave

Engine 7 is lost in the budget and TL-7 is so broke even Ferrara cant fix it. Station 7 is running Truck 4s old rig to cover Miller, the 1997 Spartan/Ferrara

Not sure where to put this rig. Originally Engine 7, 1989 Seagrave 1500/500. This rig spends it's time as a spare to other companies & on this day it was running as Engine 9 in place of it's 2000 Ferrara.

I almost forgot Medic 7 & Battalion 7, the Med unit is usually O.O.S due to lack of paramedics.

I keep forgetting to add to this thread.

Engine 11, another 1990 Pierce. Single engine house slated for closure.

Engine 12's 1990 Pierce, another single engine house. This station is supposed to close along with Engine 5 & be combined in a new firehouse.

Truck 13-1997 Spartan/Ferrara, this used to be an Engine/Truck house until a few years ago. Also used to have a brush truck that is long gone.

I believe this is x-Engine 6 1989 Seagrave 1500/500
O.O.S since 1997 and been a spare since. Usually runs as Squad 2 when their rig is out.
