Hello Everyone,
My name is Mike, and I am a high school student. I have always had an interest in fire fighting and the operations that go along with it. I have seen a few fires up close and have a few pictures to share, but I am mostly here to learn. I don't know if I will become a fire fighter, but it has been of interest since I was a little kid. I hope to show a few pics that I have taken over the past couple years of my hometown department, Wadsworth, Ohio. I hope it is ok for me to be here, as I don't see many other people who aren't fire fighters. Not the best introduction speech, but I thought it would be proper to introduce myself.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike, I'm also Mike and I'm not a firefighter. So you're not alone. That was quite an okay introductory speech! In the short time I've been on this forum, and I'm still a real "Probie," the members have been extremely helpful in answering my curious questions. There's an incredible amount of knowledge and experience out there. It's been twenty seven years since I graduated high school, but my passion for the fire service has only increased. So welcome and enjoy!

Hi Mike,
Sure it is OK to be here! I started out as a buff, became a vol. in college, graduated. Started to vol. again & wound up taking a job. That was 27 years ago.
Look around your area and see if there is a SPAAMFAA chapter. Look them up on the web. If you can't find them ask in this forum. You might enjoy them as a way to get your feet wet.
Welcome.
Bill

Hi Mike! Welcome to the forums!
You most certainly are in the right place. If being a firefighter was a prerequisite for being here, I wouldn't be able to participate in my own forums
See, I'm not a firefighter either, just a fire buff here in Youngstown, Ohio.
Enjoy your stay, ask questions and maybe we'll be seeing some Wadsworth photos on here from time to time.

Mike,
Welcome for sure, and enjoy yourself...much to see and learn about.

Hello mike welcome my email here is
battlelamp@aol.com
fell free to ask any questions you want and I will answer it or ask someone i know who knows . I also was a young buff then vol then military and retired as a officer from Philadelphia Pa. Some of my photos are in the Appratus by dept thread for Philadelphia fire dept . enjoy the forums your in great company .
The only way for anyone to learn is to see hear and do , and ask questions . Start Water is the command given by a Eng Co Officer when they want the hose line charged . Its a lot faster and little easier to move a dry hose line up a stairway to upper floors dry then filled with water .
