It will soon be 2010... what changes if any would you like to see on this forum?
« on: December 27, 2009, 08:34:35 AM »
Hi everyone,

Christmas is behind us now for another year and 2010 is peaking around the corner. I have a couple vacation days coming sooooo let me ask the toughest question since 'who was the better captain, Kirk or Picard?' What changes would you like to see happen to these forums? Are there sections you want to see combined? New sections? How about board colors? Is it time for a template change? New graphics? Is it to hard to find certain stuff? Do you even know there is an apparatus logos or delivery list section attached to the forums?

Feel free to post your suggestions (and wish list) here.

One I had was combining the Youngstown Fire News and the Mahoning Valley Fire News since I don't post the YFD news stories on the forum much anymore. I have a news CMS that handles all the site's front page news stories and I can add content to the front page very quickly.

Many Thanks and keep up the excellent work.  The only request that I have is to remember to back up the site at various times through out the year incase something unforseen happens...maybe like a fire, all will not be lost.

No complaints here either, one of the best forums around with all kinds of photos and info & almost anything that gets your whistle wet you can find here. One of the more impressive things on this site is the Delivery Lists section, definitely should check those out if you get a moment or two. For those of you who don't know, I've been working on a Pierce Delivery List from the Job # Series of EA, EB, EC, ED or 10XXX, 11XXX-23XXX. I'm trying to also get a picture or two of each delivery and this forum has played a pretty big role in getting a hold of some of these pictures and a big thanks goes out to those who post there photos and information here and a big thanks to Greg and the whole admin team for having an excellent site!

It all looks good to me! What do you think of a video link organizer? I know I personally have a number of videos on youtube of my American Lafrances, maybe somehow a forum of links?
Just a thought-

(Iknow you have no desire to view anything American Lafrance, but someone else might, not including Paul)

I'm new to this site and am wondering if there is any way to attach a reply directly to a specific posting within the general category.  As it is now (for me anyway) when I post a reply to an item it winds up at the bottom of the category causing one to scan the entire category to see the original posting to which I am replying.  (Confusing??)

I like the site a lot, keep up the good work!

Happy New Year,

I thought about it & can't say there is anything that really needs changing. There are a lot of sub-boards under manufactures, but that actually is a good thing, keeps the forum organized.  I just wonder why there's no entry for Kentucky under the "Fire Department Profile" thread? I think it's the only state not listed.

That's an easy one! Webmaster error! I created the Kentucky board and now there are all 50 states and DC. Let it be known, I have no ill will towards Kentucky, even if Steve resides there!

It took me a while to find out what they call this and I've figure out it is called "threaded view". Good news... people are talking about such a mod for SMF that will allow this. Bad news... it's not ready yet. Good news... I'll attempt to add it when they do release the mod. Bad news... not sure how it will work. Good news... we'll certainly give it a try :)
