#7 sold! No public comment?
« on: November 20, 2009, 08:53:15 AM »
Youngstown just sold the most historic firehouse in the city and essentially closed it in three years and there is no public debate? Are you kidding me?!

Sad Really
« Reply #1 on: November 21, 2009, 07:22:14 PM »
It's sad to see that government officals are selling whatever they can to balance their budgets. I think everyone see this fire station closing within 3 years. (Well, they won't have a station anymore) I guess it's a "polite" way for the Mayor to say he is cutting the fire department force down and making money in the process.

The City has been shrinking for the past 35 years, what is sad is what has become of it

Fire Station 7 got sold? I hope they build a new one for them. I rode there once, it's a great station.

They won't build a new one. They will run the engine out of #1.

With an economy comparable to that of the great depression we can imagine eng7 moving downtown .

HOW  CAN THEY JUST SELL  A BUILDING VEHICLE  ETC WITH NO PREVIOUS NOTICE ??????     IN PHILA  THE COUNCIL HAS TO  APPROVE  SALES TO A POINT .    VEHICLES  ARE SOLD BY A CITY AGENCY   HIGHEST BID

ONE OF THE DEPTS  HAS TO DECLARE THE VEHICLE AS  SURPLUS AND  SELL IT OFF

Has anyone  looked into this sale of  a fire station with no public notice
sounds like someone is making money on the deal.     Did the  IAFF local look into this .

I am aware some times  it can cost more  in the long run to post  the information

i have no idea what occured on my last post when it says  vehicle  instead of building
sorry about that  i think  I was on the phone when ni was  posting.

Of Course! They sold it to the guy who is building apartments for YSU College next door. this will be used as an addition to the apartments for college studets. The College does not allow students in the first 2 years to live off campus. ( another money making deal) so they have to build more apartments for the sudents to live in and now there are a TON of empty apt. buildings all over the NorthSide. This guy offered the right price and the City Council grabbed it up.
