Hello from a Newbie from MN

Hello to all! I have enjoyed browsing through your site. It looks like there are a lot of helpful members out there which was another reason I joined. My grandfather, father and uncles are all/have been fire fighters in a SMALL town in Western MN. My family has recently purchased/been gifted an old fire engine we would like to restore and so I joined here hoping for assistance and possibly assistance finding parts when we really dive into our project.
For more information on our fire engine look under odd and unusual as the fire engine we have is 1 of 8. I look forward to talking with all of you. Thank you for accepting my membership application.

We have a 1932 FWD made by the Minneapolis Fire Department. She is 1 of 8 made before they closed their shops. As I said, if you'd like to see her she's under odd and unusual rigs but here's the link to that.

Welcome Milangal. That is an interesting fire engine that you have. By chance do you have a photo that you could post showing how the rig looked while in service? Keep posting...

I have one. There was a VERY helpful gentleman at the Minneapolis fireman's museum who shared this photo with us-they are pretty sure this is her in her hayday. He said it is one of the few that exists of #8. We went back to the fire department who owned her as they HAD a bunch of photos and other items but were disappointed and upset to find out one of the newer, dumber members who doesn't value history threw away ALL of the old log books from the fire department. Almost 100 years of history in the garbage!

A nice photo showing the engine and station (the firehouse even has a Standard Oil thermometer mounted on the right). It's unfortunate that some people place no value in history and lack the wisdom to determine that other people do. I don't know how many times I've been to a station only to be told that papers, photos, or old equipment has been recently thrown in the trash...

#5 is beautiful in person. They did a nice job restoring it. We went to the museum to look at it and take TONS of pictures for our future restoration. The guys there were VERY helpful! They were even able to find a copy of the book for the engine restoration!
