This horse drawn hose reel is identified as Eagle Hose #3.  The department where this rig served is unknown.  Notice the proud pooch on the seat with the driver!

This hose reel is similar to the piece shown in the photo above.  The horses are decorated for a parade!  The department that operated this rig is also  not known.

Smethport, Pennsylvania had a rather fancy looking hose carriage and an equally snappy looking crew to go with the reel. From the looks of what can be seen, the firehouse is nothing to sneeze at either!

Watertown, Massachusetts operated this fine looking hose reel.

Atlanta, Georgia operated this hose reel in the 1870's.

I purchased the photo below at Allentown 2 weeks ago because it shows the horses with their blankets on at a fire scene.  There is no town name or identification on the picture.  There is a notation printed on the bottom: Scene at the Linton Block Fire, Sunday Morning Mar. 9 6:30 a.m.  Does anyone recognize the location?

Steinway Fire Co Hose cart

A four wheel hand drawn hose cart from the Steinway VFD. The piano maker moved out of NYC and established a company town across the East River in Queens.
A little history here:

The information with this photo says that the photographer was in Jamaica, New York and that the firefighters have a "2" on their uniforms.  A great looking bunch with the speaking trumpets, nozzles, and giant mustaches!  I wonder if this house ended up as an FDNY company?

Hi David!

Welcome to Youngstown (at least the electronic version)!  I should have tried the basic Google search before posting that but old age often prevents me from taking the proper action!  ;)  Thanks for taking the time to search.  I look forward to seeing more of your comments on the site and I'm sure we can look forward to additional photos of a certain fire museum located in an area west of Chicago......

Take care,

Steve
