Having paint schemes using colors other than red was pretty common in the hand and horse drawn era.  Even early motorized rigs were delivered in unusual colors.

This 1913 Ahrens-Fox model 'A' pumper was delivered to the Hibernia Fire Company of Lambertville, New Jersey.  Now, with a name like Hibernia I wonder why they chose green....

Very similar in appearance to the rig shown above is this dark green Ward LaFrance for the Beverly, New Jersey F.D.
